Reinterpreting Odisha Textiles

The traditional textiles of Odisha are rendered with beautiful patterns in ikat and enhanced with extra warp threads in the warp and extra weft threads and usually heavily rendered.

The story behind my designs: My love with Odisha textiles pulled me back to my native state in 2006. My experiments with weaving focus on minimalism, emphasising each elements of design at a time.  With stress on supreme quality of natural materials I travelled villages to villages wandering in the search of stories to meet weavers who could weave sarees patiently and slowly with love and passion –making sure that each thread in the warp and weft intersects and interlaces beautifully.

We don’t make many but make few works of art that is special and close to our heart.

My work with weavers, women spinners and tie dye makers builds a interactive dialogue and collaborative space with traditional artist- making every piece unique and special.
